One of the latest viral challenges has been the #VansChallenge, where no matter how you drop Vans, they always land right-side up.
BuzzFeed decided to contact a SCIENTIST to explain the phenomenon.
A lot of people think it's because the soles are heavy and the tops are light, but according to Vitaly Kresin, PH.D., that's not completely true:
The shoes' final landing is based on how they roll on the floor. And the rubber soles are more likely to catch the ground and stop the shoe. It could be explained by friction from the sole, and the object's natural tendency to fall on its heavier side when standing on edge.
Well thank God THAT'S explained. Now we can get on with wasting more time throwing our shoes...
