Natalie Portman On Jessica Simpson Shaming Remark: 'No Need For Beef'

Natalie Portman said there is no beef with Jessica Simpson over the pair's social media exchange and it seems like the tension is over, at least on Portman's end.

Portman spoke out about the incident during her recent appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen in promotion for her new film Vox Lux, revealing that she has not spoken offline with the star. "I have only respect and good feelings for her. I think there's no need for beef between women," the actress said during the interview. "We're all in the same society and living with the same pressures and we're allies."

In case you missed out, the Oscar-winning actress recently recalled being a teenager and seeing Simpson wear a bikini and say she was a virgin on a magazine cover. "Like, I don't know what this is trying to tell me as a woman, as a girl," she said of her mentality at the time. Simpson hit back with her disappointment on Instagram. "As public figures, we both know our image is not totally in our control at all times, and that the industry we work in often tries to define us and box us in," she wrote. "However, I was taught to be myself and honor the different ways all women express themselves, which is why I believed then- and I believe now- that being sexy in a bikini and being proud of my body are not synonymous with having sex."

Previous to the appearance, Portman shared an apology with the pop star. "I have nothing but respect for your talent and you voice that you use to encourage and empower women all over the globe," she wrote.
